Frame talking drums, made with a strong, thick clay rim and played with lightweight straight sticks.
They either play open tone or are used to talk/shift pitch by pushing the softened skin from the inside. In the hands of a good player, they can sound as powerful as the other Yoruba talking drums, alongside which they now often play.
These drums are popular in various styles of traditional Yoruba music and were at the forefront of the Sakara music genre popularised by musicians such as Yusufu Olatunji
